ABOUT PROJECT LOVE

OUR MISSION

Through the gift of shoes and clothing, Project Love seeks to equip those in need by meeting their basic needs and empowering them to reach their God-given purpose.

HOW IT STARTED

After receiving a scholarship to run Division I Track & Field at North Dakota State University and having a surplus of running shoes from the sport, Tatenda felt the need to give back to the children in his home country of Zimbabwe. Growing up, it was common for him to witness children walking several miles to school without shoes. This heart wrenching reality inspired Tatenda and others to host a shoe and clothing drive to benefit the children.

Tatenda began to spread the word of his initiative with other student athletes and within weeks, over 100 shoes had been donated to benefit children in Zimbabwe. Shortly after this event, a connection was made with Samaritan’s Feet who willingly agreed to match the number of shoes donated with a pair of brand new shoes. In total, 240 pairs of shoes were shipped to Tatenda’s former high school, benefiting 240 deserving children.

In early 2020, he felt called to host another drive, this time for shoes and clothing. Not knowing where the shoes would go this time around, Tatenda contacted a friend in Zimbabwe who connected him with a nearby orphanage. With eager excitement he launched a second shoe and clothing drive.

Through the power of social media and help from friends, the drive spread like wildfire. As a result of the generosity of friends, family and the community, hundreds of shoes and bags of clothes were ready to be shipped. Within a few weeks, children of the orphanage received one of the best gifts of their lives. We believe, through the will of God, we can bring hope, joy, and peace to children around the world by the simple act of giving.

Project Love is a registered 501(c)(3) non-project organization.
